Simple Striped Beanie

This is the first pattern I have actually taken time to write out. When I first started crocheting I thought, “wow, I will never get to the point where I can make something without a pattern”. I still love working from patterns, but I do from time to time make up things without one. This is a simple little beanie I made one day out of boredom. So I thought I would share it with you. Works up super fast! If you have any questions, please send me a message or comment!

COLOR CHANGES:

When you get to the last stitch in the row, before completing it you will be changing your color. I recommend watching the video on the following link because I know for me, seeing something makes it that much easier to understand. http://www.allfreecrochet.com/Tutorials/How-to-Color-Change-without-Knots

This hat is very simple and works up super fast! Love it? Please be sure to share my blog and my FB page! Leave me a message! Would love to hear from you!

HOOK Size: I

Hat should measure about 13-14 inches unstretched and from top to bottom 5 to 5.5 inches.

Winter Wonderland…

If you know me, you know that I hate snow. And are probably annoyed with how many times I have told you just that. I am not a fan of winter. BUT this week we had some of the most gorgeous snow that I have ever seen in my whole life. At one point, I was up at about 2am and looking outside, it really was almost magical. So when the sun came up I did sneak outside while everyone else was still sleeping. I may not like it all that well, but I really do love photographing snow. If we can always get snows like this, instead of icky snow/ice/sleet mixes, I might have to change my opinion about snow….

War Eagle: My husband’s Project…

Actually this was a joint effort between the two of us. He’s never really did anything projecty (we will pretend that is a word), but after his crazy experience the last few months he knew he wanted to commemorate it in some way. He’s a big sports fan. There are two teams that you are guaranteed to here him yelling at the tv if you come to our home. One is the Atlanta Braves and the other is the Auburn Tigers. Obviously his reactions, as most of America now knows,  can get pretty crazy.  When all was said and done, he wanted to make something that would highlight the experience our family had and he did. This will go in his office at work.

This was a dark wood 30×40 frame that we went over with Spray Kilz:

Time to add the blue!!

Then he added articles and other things from our experience that he had laminated onto a board we got from Hobby Lobby:

He added a few finishing touches and the job was complete!

Oh he took up taggin’ in the process too….

Project 365: Day 4 Pattern

This is my entry for this day (though I was lazy and didn’t get it posted very quickly. I’ve just been looking around the _MG_0356house and have been inspired to do something different. (which I do a lot) This is the pattern from a pillow I have..it makes me want to roll up my sleeves and finally get some painting in the house done!

Project 365: Day 1 Hobbies

This year I decided I would finally start a Project 365. Which is me committing to take at least one photograph a day, something I should be doing anyway. I’m going to try to get as creative as I can as the year goes along. For the first picture lots of “lists” suggest maybe starting with a self portrait. But today was a lazy day for me and I was not going to bother getting all dolled up for a picture. (because seriously, I am NOT gonna post a hag photo of myself) So I decided to do a photograph that encompasses the hobbies that I really love. This picture represents things that I would not know what to do if I couldn’t do them anymore. They are my stress relievers, mental escapes, and guilty pleasures.

Motivation Monday

Today my motivation need doesn’t necessary represent that anyone has actually vocally spoke the words “You can’t” to me. Sometimes it is what is unsaid or perhaps even the way things are said that can kinda get into your head and make you doubt yourself. So this is my motivation for today, and I must say if fits with several different things in my life.
